Hike Capitol Reef National Park

CRNP Spring photo by Faun Jackson @ faundimages.blogspot.com

Spring is finally here in Wayne County.  Yes, we have had the wind this last week, but don't be frightened off because of a little wind. Our days have been bright and shiny along with temperatures in the high 60's and low 70's...a great time for hiking.

Here is a map of our beautiful Capitol Reef area.

I recommend this hike:
Hickman Bridge: This hike is a Moderate (a mix of steep grades & level sections) hike.  It is only 2 miles round trip and easy enough for those that haven't been out and done much hiking this spring and a hike well worth the view for those more avid hikers.

I chose this hike because the wind has been blowing here just as it has all over the state of Utah, but with the Hickman Bridge hike, you are protected by the wonders of the landscapes and temperatures are usually warmer in Capitol Reef.
Don't forget to bring plenty of water, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and of course your camera.

Remember...if you are into backpacking and camping there are a lot of overnight trails to dig your boots into.  There is plenty to do here in Capitol Reef Country, whether you are a beginner or an avid hiker.
If you have a family, there are plenty of trails for smaller children and many things to do. The Gifford House is just one exclusive place of interest!

A permit is required for backcountry camping and can be obtained at the Visitor Center free of charge.
